MLA Uses Ruling to Issue Warning

The Master Locksmiths Association is warning members of the public and businesses to be on their guard when using the services of unlicensed locksmiths.
The warning comes following the Governments ruling which comes into force this week (w/c 13th July 2009) that the Master Locksmiths Association is now entitled to carry out standard Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks into the backgrounds of its members and would be locksmiths applying for MLA training or licences.
This is yet further proof of how the MLA is helping to regulate the locksmithing industry and shows the emphasis that the government puts on the MLA.

Some History

In 1974, Eddie Clarke, aware of the lack of security facilities in the Thames Valley area, established our original company GCD Security in order to provide a comprehensive burglary prevention service both to the community and local industry.  GCD Security has rightly gained a reputation for quality and value for money backed by a first class service.

Initially we concentrated on Locksmithing through our retail shop where we still train our own apprentice Locksmiths. In the late 70's we began to install intruder and fire alarms.

In December 2005 Eddie sold the Electronic & Alarm side of the business to Initial Electronic Security (who in turn sold it to Chubb Electronics in 2008) & Eddie subsequently formed a new company, GCD Security Locksmiths Ltd trading as the Security Centre , based in the retail shop on the High Street Maidenhead. This new company is completely independent & has no links with any of the other companies.

Paul Hickman who had been with Eddie since 1979 moved to the Security Centrealong with all the Locksmithing staff.

In the summer of 2008 Eddie sold this new company to Paul and although Eddie is still involved on a consultancy basis, he is now enjoying a well earned retirement!

Based in Maidenhead and covering the Thames Valley and surrounding areas, we are ideally placed to offer a range of security services ranging from Physical Locksmithing, Key-cutting, Safes and Grilles, Gate Automation, Access Control and CCTV.

Paul and his team will continue running the Company based on the original GCD reputation for quality and value for money, backed by a first class service, so that when you use GCD Security Locksmiths you can…….. Feel Secure and be Secure!
